The Fashion Careers Clinic at the Brightspace Creative Careers Festival

Saturday, January 29, 2011
Yesterday I spent a day in Birmingham doing a series of fashion careers talks and workshops at the Creative Careers Festival, a special event organised by a charity called Brightspace.
It was great to meet young students who are still at school and exploring the various options available to them after their GCSE's. During the morning session, we conducted a talk on the different roles within fashion, how to find work experience and write a CV, and discussed fashion courses available at college and university.

The afternoon workshop was more practical, focusing on how to prepare a fashion portfolio. We showed students a selection of work produced by professional designers, then it was time for them to put what they'd seen into practice, by creating a mood board and design development.

If you're interested in finding out more about a career in fashion, why not ask your school or college if you can have a talk or workshop from us here at The Fashion Careers Clinic? We cover talks on getting into fashion design, marketing, PR and styling. Ask your teacher or lecturer to email Steph@fashioncareersclinic.com for more information...
